Langley

Langley is a smaller community within McLean. The land itself was first established as a homestead in the mid-1700s, and there are some beautiful neighborhoods with stately colonials and Cape Cod-style homes. Smaller homes dominated the area for some time, but as McLean grew, so did Langley.

Langley has been mostly absorbed by McLean and has a number of commercial sites. It's home to the George Bush Center for Intelligence, which is part of the Central Intelligence Agency. This bedroom community is also home to the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center, which is part of the Federal Highway Administration. Also notable is Claude Moore Colonial Farm, a preservation area within the National Park Service. Residents calling it home are included in the Fairfax County School District, though only a handful of homes exist in this area near the George Washington Memorial Parkway and Langley Fork Park.

Langley Forest (Mclean)

Located just off I-495 and bounded by Route 193 to the south, Langley Forest is a community within the city of McLean. It's a bit more densely populated than others nearby and offers a mixture of green space, residential areas, and lots of businesses along the central corridor. Langley Forest is part of the Fairfax County Public Schools, and many schools are located within this area, including Langley High School and Schools for Green.

Homes here range from ramblers to colonials, many of which were built in the 1940s. Larger homes with more luxury features are located around the Langley Oaks Park area. Some properties have larger, wooded lots. It's only a short drive over the Potomac, though many chose to explore the area around Dead Run and Turkey Run, small streams that run from the river south.
