The Brookland neighborhood in DC, called the "Little Rome" because it's been the home of the Catholic University of America since 1887, is a combination of an arts district and beautiful greenspace. The tree-lined homes offer architectural beauty, with a few quaint storefronts and locally owned restaurants. This community is filled with stunning sites, including the Franciscan Monastery of the Holy Land in America.
In nearby Michigan Park, residents enjoy older homes and beautiful greenspaces. It's home to the Northern Michigan Park Civic Association and Barnard Hill, a park that offers outstanding views of the surrounding Upper Northeast area. From the red brick buildings to the new townhomes, this region has become a modern area with plenty of parklands. It's also super accessible thanks to the No. 80 Metro that runs through the region.
Another neighborhood in this area is University Heights, home to about 4,300 people. It's a mix of urban amenities and stately houses, sitting just off the Red Line of the Washington Metro area. University Heights is also home to Turkey Thicket Park & Recreation Center.
