NEIGHBORHOOD
Observatory Circle + Mass Heights
Located in Northwest Washington, Observatory Circle is a small neighborhood home to the US Naval Observatory. It's also the community in which the US vice president resides. The southeastern part of the neighborhood lines Massachusetts Avenue, and since much of it is home to various embassies, it has earned the name Embassy Row. Stately, private homes often spanning more than 5,000 square feet are commonly found here.
Highly prestigious and distinguished, Mass Heights is noted for its spacious homes with large land areas, even though the area itself is quite small. Only a small portion of Mass Heights between Garfield Street and Massachusetts Avenue is residential. Elsewhere in this small neighborhood, embassies and other government offices surround the elegant homes.
